Michael Rafailyk is a type designer from Ukraine, specializing in Cyrillic and also working with Latin, Greek, Mkhedruli, Armenian, Hebrew, and Arabic scripts. He was awarded at TDC70 in the Type Design category. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Composition and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, and has 10+ years of experience in a branding agency.

Michael likes taking unconventional ideas and making them usable by synthesizing them with something classical. Thanks to his branding background, he clearly understands the role typefaces play in communication between a brand and its audience. His musical education also informs his sense of rhythm and overall visual harmony in text.
