KobzarKS (1 font)

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko's birth, Kyivstar, a national telecom operator, presents a unique font to all Ukrainians – Kobzar KS. Based on the handwriting of the famous poet and artist, this font has all the necessary elements of modern digital design. There is support for about 100 languages, numbers, punctuation and mathematical signs, and fractions. For the most demanding users, ligatures and ornaments are integrated into the font, and several forms of the same letters are provided. The handwritten effect creates a sense of belonging to the national life and a specific historical era. To create the font, Shevchenko's handwritten texts were digitized. And the Latin letters were actually invented by designers – Shevchenko, unfortunately, did not live through the era of globalization and bilingualism. There are also features characteristic of Shevchenko's writing, such as elongated strokes in individual letters at the end of words. The designers themselves, Gennadiy Zarechniuk, Dmytro Rastvortsev, and Lukyan Turetsky, called their work on Latin letters, ligatures, and other cosmetic nuances a "creative experiment." The full functionality of the font is revealed when using a font file in OTF (OpenType Font) format. Everyone can download the Kobzar KS font absolutely free and use it for their own needs in all cases provided for by the license agreement. The font was designed in 2014.
